THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN – PRESIDENT OBAMA – UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI

Photos of some of the University Of Miami students that were able to get tickets to see and listen to President Obama speak on campus.

Most of the students I spoke with in the photos spent up to 12 hours overnight waiting on line for tickets.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

As President Obama gave his State of the Union speech yesterday one thing he mentioned I thought I should speak about.  President Obama stated in his speech “We need the fastest, most reliable ways to move people, goods, and information-from high-speed rail to high-speed internet.  Sounding good and powerful in a speech but unfortunately many people have been left out in the cold because of modern technology literally.

One area in his speech I need to touch on is high speed internet.  While the internet is a blessing for many to include social media, for some it means the loss of their jobs.  Many of the smaller companies cannot compete with the larger giants like EBay or all the other online shopping you will find on the internet.  Sure some Pros of the internet are convenience, full of information, lots of price saving and a lot of variety to choose from at your fingers.  Some of the cons are online shopping means less people shopping at their local stores which means less salespeople, in turn means less jobs.

Then there is the news, up to the second information brought to you on the internet, which means say goodbye to our local newspapers and companies.  Less jobs as we know means less spending which in turn affects the whole economy.  We need to come to a happy medium so America can go “Full Speed Ahead”.

In this photo taken last week is a man named Joseph, a homeless newspaper man who lost his job selling newspapers for The Sun-Sentinel about a year ago.  When I asked him what happened and why he lost his job he told me no one was buying newspapers anymore so now Joseph is living on the street.  Joseph found shelter from the rain and cold under a closed down Ritz camera store in South Florida.   When I asked Joseph if he needed anything his response was “A Cup of Coffee”.
